Job Purpose
The National Transportation Intern supports the National Transportation team by analyzing logistics data, optimizing network flows, and monitoring performance. The role also contributes to strategic projects, including TMS implementation, load consolidation, and transportation process improvements.
Responsibility
- The position is responsible for assisting the ‘Supply Chain – National Transportation’ team by undertaking logistics studies, executing projects and monitoring daily network flow.
- Assist and play a key role in the rollout of the new TMS (Transportation Management System), by gathering and analyzing essential freight data, establishing user SOP’s, monitoring system performance and help execute enhancements
- Create freight spec database by customer and business unit. Propose optimized order patterns and load build.
- Participate in multi-site load consolidation project to the west by running analyses and assist execution
- Carry out a study on the ambient logistics network and recommend optimized solutions
- Assist with setup of standardized processes for T1 (including co-pack) transport
- Helps establish Key Performance Indicators (KPI) reporting and follow up mechanisms
- Work with and assist specialists on daily load planning and vendor management activities
Qualifications
- Current university student pursuing a degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or a related field of study
- Experience in quantitative applications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work within structured timeline.
- Strong orientation towards accuracy, quality and focus on details
- Able to work efficiently in a fast paced, team environment with a strong sense of urgency and understanding of priorities
- Team player, understanding the needs, requirements and priorities of other functional groups
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient with standard office computer technology such as Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Microsoft Office products, including advanced proficiency MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
