Job Purpose
Located at our Brampton facility, the Shipping Supervisor manages the overall operation of shipping/receiving department and ensures that quantitative and qualitative measures included in the operating plan are met, including those related to costs, cost reductions, productivity, health and safety, customer satisfaction, scheduling and staffing.
Shift: Night Shift - Sun-Thursday or Tues-Saturday (10 pm to 6 am)
All roles must have flexibility to support cross shift coverage needs and rotating shifts (vacations, planned/unplanned absence)
Responsibility
- Coordinate all shipments to customers by planning and tendering deliveries to external transportation carriers through the system (SAP). Plan transportation in a cost effective manner by understanding freight costs of each carrier. Ensure Shipping Department is aware of all shipments and provide bills of lading to drivers.
- Provide leadership to improve health and safety performance by being a role model in safety and demonstrating due diligence through applying the corporate health & safety program elements. These focus on incident prevention through hazard identification, implementing necessary controls, training, education, and audits. Where necessary, take corrective action to address unsafe situations and employee behaviours, uphold Parmalat’s cardinal and other safety rules and procedures, and communicate with appropriate resources to address any hazardous conditions or unsafe employee conduct.
- Evaluate and optimize internal storage capacity of finished goods. Understand costs associated with storing finished goods in external warehouses and make decisions accordingly. Monitor warehouse conditions and ensure product storage requirements with respect to quality and safety are met.
- Review month end variance reports with the Logistics & Planning Manager/ Shipping Manager and make necessary adjustments to spending to ensure warehouse budget is not exceeded. Schedule resources to match production requirements.
- Provide leadership and supervision to staff by providing work direction, performance feedback, and recommendations for training and development. Promote a positive labour-management relationship, including efforts to continuously improve the team culture and to establish high levels of employee involvement. Ensure compliance with the Company’s corporate and legal obligations under the Collective Agreement, as well as various statutes and regulations such as Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Serve as a member of the location management team by participating in site production meetings and audits.
- As part of the annual physical inventory team, ensure sufficient resources are available and warehouses are organized for a successful physical inventory count. Understand count procedures and ensure said procedures are carried out by warehouse staff.
- Serve as a member of the Quality internal audit team and champion health and safety, HACCP and GMP practices. Protect the company’s employees by completing safety related work orders and enforcing safety regulations. Ensure H&S programs are updated and challenged to increase H&S awareness and employee commitment to safety.
Qualifications
- College diploma or University degree preferably in materials management
- Three (3) to five (5) years experience as a supervisor directly involved in distribution, and in a unionized environment
- Experience with distribution and logistics.
- Knowledge of the provincial transportation systems
- Proficient with standard office computer technology such as Microsoft Office (Word & Excel), as well as business systems such as SAP
- Strong inter-personal and communications skills.

Compensation:
As part of our commitment to fairness, trust, and transparency and our ambition to be an Employer of Choice, the base salary range for this position is: $70,100.00–$87,600.00 .
Please note: Along with a comprehensive Total Rewards package, your actual base salary will be fair, competitive, and be based on your skills, experience, and qualifications.
